Welcome to the first episode Employment Edge podcast, brought to you by Barrington Hibbert Associates. We’re delighted to be joined by the incredible Amanda Rajkumar, former Chief Human Resources Officer at Adidas.
Hosted by Michael Barrington Hibbert, Founder and CEO of Barrington Hibbert Associates, Amanda graciously shares her knowledge, wisdom and insights gained from her remarkable career so far - as well as what she had for breakfast that morning!
Some background on Amanda - after spending 28 years of her career within the investment banking sector, three years ago she made the pivot into the sporting goods industry, joining the Executive Board as Chief Human Resources Officer at Adidas.
Tasked with the feat of resetting where HR sits, professionalising the organisation and also making sure DE&I is embedded into everything Adidas does, Amanda relished the challenge of bringing everything she had learned in her career so far, into a new environment.
Impressively, Amanda has never applied for a job - all of the roles she’s held have been down to her network, which she has actively maintained and nurtured over the years.
From the importance of developing good workplace relationships to practical tips to grow and maintain connections: Amanda explains how she has built her network over the years, such as by using social media; being intentional about identifying people who could help and mentor her; and volunteering for workplace projects.
If you’re looking for insights into how to give yourself an Employment Edge through your network and connections - this is the episode for you!
At the time of recording, it was Amanda’s last day at Adidas. She’s enjoying a break over the summer, and as she says - the world is her oyster. We’re looking forward to seeing what challenge Amanda takes on next!
